Travel Sites

We all love our annual vacation but there are those that never go too far from home and then you find the adventurous types that will travel the world. Wherever it is you want to visit, there will be numerous sources of information online at special travel sites. Many people use the internet now to plan even complex travel plans, never seeing a travel agent. Generally travel agents cannot compete, at least financially, with the wealth of sites that can offer amazing discounts.
Although I am not one to put my complete trust in these sites and still like to visit my travel agent. However, I am still of the old school and prefer to sit down with a cup of coffee and plan my vacation with a professional, face to face. With a travel agent, I can change my mind about my plans several times, call and ask questions, and have someone to blame should my vacation not turn out to be what I was hoping for.
The difficulty comes with the aspect of trust and speaking to someone on a phone, who knows where, does not instill confidence. With a travel agent they are real and I can always go back to them and clarify points especially if something goes wrong. Although I do know someone who waits for the last minute cancellations to come up on travel sites and books them every time, saving a good deal of money. There are always huge savings to be had by waiting until the last possible moment to book but you have to be flexible with your travel arrangements to do this.
I have to say that I envy here but she has an understanding company that is far more flexible than mine which require more notice for a vacation. There are other discounts to be made as well if you are prepared to book your vacation through a travel site, like discounts on car hire, excursions and tickets for events for example.
Knowing a little about what you want and information about the location you want to travel too can be useful so I still research as much of this as I can online before I pay my travel agent a visit. I take that information and then see a travel agent because at least I know that if my vacation turns out to be a nightmare, I have someone to come back and yell at.
