Lymington – Hampshire is a small town on the southern coast of England that is very close to the New Forest District. It is also close to the Isle of Wight and gets a great deal of tourism trade because of it. There is a ferry that regularly shuttles cars between the island and the mainland.

The location is ideal for attracting wealthy travelers. There is plenty of diversity with the sea, the forest, and activities on the island and mainland. Yachting and sailing are the most common forms of recreation.

The aesthetics of the town and quality of control are vigorously maintained. It has to be in order to keep attracting wealthy tourists. The transportation systems are excellent and crime rate is very low. It is a quiet, peaceful area that has many fashionable homes, especially for retirees. Any old buildings not up to code are regularly demolished to make way for posh, affordable apartments or new businesses.

Scholars would like it, too, since there is an Iron Age fort in the area. There is plenty to study, since it was also an Anglo-Saxon town with a Jute population. After the English reclaimed the area, it became very valuable for its natural salt deposits. Salt made for very good trade, since it was almost the only thing common people had available to season their food. Other spices were too expensive. Salt was also very commonly used to preserve foods before iceboxes were invented.

Even though the town has extremely prosperous businesses and a wealthy clientele, it tries to stay as quaint as possible. The population is not very big and streets are still cobblestone. Residents try to publicize local legends to out-of-town people. Most of these tales are fictional and deal with ghosts and smugglers, but they are certainly entertaining.

World sailing championships are held in the ocean near the area, providing for some wonderful spectator sports. It is reputed to be some of the world’s most difficult sailing, which makes these contests wonderful challenges for competitors. Despite this worldly status, locals race up to one hundred sailing vessels every Thursday night during the summer months for fun.

The town seems to specialize in outdoor activity. There are numerous golf courses, tennis courts, public swimming pools, racetracks, gyms, boating clubs, and sports fields. There is only one library and one very small theatre that is combined with a cinema.
