Alicante is a beautiful area of Spain that attracts thousands of visitors every single year.

Alicante is steeped in history and the City has grown out from the base of Mount Benecantil which dominates the skyline of the region. It is one of the fastest growing cities in Spain and is renowned as a tourist area because of the beauty of the region. In fact it is becoming one of the most important tourism hotspots in Spain.

Are you visiting Alicante Spain soon? The following information outlines the numerous activities that await you in this fantastic city.

Firstly lets start with the beaches. The beaches of Alicante attract hundreds of tourists every single day. During the Summer months some of the more popular beaches can get extremely busy. If you do plan on going to the beach then it is worth making sure that you get there nice and early. The Spanish still like to have their siesta and between the times of 2 and 4 you will find that the beaches become quieter. The most popular beach is Playa del Postiguet which is situated right at the forefront of Alicante. This beach has to be the most conveniently situated beach for the City. From here you can access the numerous hotels, restaurants and even the main shops are only a 20 minute walk away. This beach is on the tram line and right next to the marina. You can sunbathe, swim or try sand boarding – the latest craze to hit Alicante beaches!

If you go to Playa del Postiguet then you absolutely must visit the famous Santa Barbara Castle. The elevator ride to the top of Mount Benecantil is absolutely worth it. When you reach the top the view that awaits you is absolutely breathtaking and you will realise why this is a must! You can see for miles and miles around Alicante and out to sea.

The city boasts an excellent range of water sports ranging from jet skiing to kneeboarding through to canoeing. There is even the opportunity of flying inflatables which will really get the adrenaline coursing through the body!

The Port of Alicante offers a different sort of watersport – one that is slightly more sedate. This watersport is renting a boat and sailing on the open sea for a couple of hours! Much more relaxing!

After all this activity you can satisfy your hunger by visiting one of the amazing and welcoming seafood restaurants. The restaurants and bars will stay open late so if dancing is on the agenda then you have no excuse! You may find that most of the restaurants don’t open until after 9pm so grab a smaller meal earlier in the day so you can last through til late evening.

The Costa Blanca attracts golfers by the hundreds. If you would like to have a round of golf then there are fifteen 18 hole golf courses within a 2 hour drive of Alicante. So now would be a good time to try out one of the best courses in the region. Your only problem will be deciding on which golf course you should play. Not the best golfer? It doesn’t matter the region is a mecca for golfers of all abilities.

Our very last recommendation is to visit one of the theme parks in the area. There are animal parks, water parks and theme parks all only a 20 minute drive away. The whole family can have fun in these theme parks and they are designed to offer a great day out for everyone. The most popular and well known theme parks are Terra Natura, Terra Mitica and Aqualanida
